PRC, CHED SIGN AGREEMENT TO ALIGN LICENSURE EXAM WITH CURRICULUM

/ 11 April 2025

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education (CHED) and the Professional Regulation Commission signed a Joint Memorandum Circular today, Thursday (10 Apr 2025) at Malacañang to align the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers with the teacher education curriculum starting September 2025.

The signing was witnessed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., following his directive during the March 4, 2025, Sectoral Meeting on the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) Year Two Report, Fixing the Foundations. In that meeting, the President urged CHED and PRC to urgently address the misalignment while amendments to RA 7836, or the Teacher Professionalization Act of 1994, are still pending in Congress.

“Teachers shape our nation’s future. This landmark reform embodies our commitment to ensuring that every Filipino teacher is equipped with the skills and tools needed to teach with depth, with clarity, and with purpose. It is a vital step toward raising the quality of education for our present and, most importantly, our future generations,” President Marcos said.

According to the EDCOM report, the longstanding misalignment between CHED’s teacher education curriculum and the content of the LEPT administered by the PRC has been a significant factor in the low passing rates among graduates.
