SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian assured that the Philippine Science High School System will receive an additional P413 million—its first increase in scholarship grants in 10 years.

The funding is expected to support 10,935 scholars in 2026.

Currently, full scholars receive a monthly grant of P4,000, while partial scholars receive between P500 and P3,500. The additional allocation will double the monthly grant for full scholars to P8,000, while all partial scholars will receive P4,000.

“Increasing the monthly grants to scholars will prevent them from dropping out amid rising costs of living and education,” Gatchalian said.

He added that the increase ensures equitable support for learners, especially those from low-income households and remote regions.

“Panahon na upang itaas ang halagang ibinibigay natin sa ating mga Philippine Science High School scholars. Mahalagang tiyakin nating sapat ang suporta upang maipagpatuloy at matapos nila ang programa,” said Gatchalian, chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.
