PBBM APPROVES DEPED’s BASIC EDUCATION DEV’T PLAN

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday (25 April 2024) approved Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio’s Basic Education Development Plan 2030 and MATATAG Agenda.
Marcos, chair of the National Economic and Development Authority, said that NEDA approved DepEd’s development plan at the Board Meeting held at Malacañang Palace.
The President said he does not see any objection to the proposals of the DepEd as he highlighted its importance to the country’s education system.
“The [NEDA] board approves the adoption of the Basic Education Development Plan 2023 and MATATAG Agenda as a national policy and plan for basic education,” he said.
According to DepEd, MATATAG has four critical components:
1. MAke the curriculum relevant to produce competent job-ready, active, and responsible citizens;
2. TAke steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education facilities and services;
3. TAke good care of learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusive education, and a positive learning environment; and
4. Give support to teachers to teach better.
