PBBM APPROVES ADDITIONAL ₱1K HONORARIUM FOR TEACHERS WHO SERVED IN ELECTIONS

/ 18 May 2025

COMMISSION on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Erwin Garcia confirmed that public school teachers who served in the recently concluded elections will receive an additional ₱1,000 honorarium.

This amount is on top of the previously approved ₱2,000 increase in their compensation, bringing the total increase to ₱3,000.

Garcia expressed deep gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for granting COMELEC’s request to augment the honoraria, recognizing the invaluable service and sacrifice of teachers during the electoral process.

According to Garcia, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin had already sent a letter to Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman informing her that the additional ₱758.45 million fund request for teacher compensation had been approved.

“It may not be a huge amount, but this ₱1,000 is a tangible recognition of the service and dedication of our teachers,” Garcia said.

The additional compensation is expected to benefit thousands of teachers who played a vital role in ensuring the smooth and orderly conduct of the elections.
