THE CITY government of Pasig will provide scholarship grants to students seeking to have a career in the arts.

Pasig Mayor Victor Ma. Regis ‘Vico’ Sotto said the city will open 50 slots to an arts and design program that will be launched at the Rizal High School.

“This school year, we’ve launched our Arts and Design Scholarship with a pilot batch of 50 students from Rizal High School,” Sotto said.

He added that if the program proves successful, more slots will be made available in the future.

“Kung maayos po ito at nakita natin na talagang epektibo para sa mga talento sa larangan ng sining ay ie-expand pa po natin iyan sa susunod na taon,” he said.

Earlier, Pasig City funded the scholarship of about 3,000 indigent students studying in private institutions. The city has also expanded its sports scholarship program.

The city government currently supports about 18,000 scholars.
