PALACE TO STUDY REMULLA’S PROPOSAL FOR CLASS-SUSPENSION AUTHORITY
MALACAÑANG said it will study the proposal of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla to grant him the authority to suspend classes during tropical cyclones.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has not yet issued an official response to the proposal.
Remulla, a former Cavite governor, noted that his experience in local governance equips him to make timely decisions during severe weather events.
Meanwhile, Castro emphasized that Marcos has ordered the urgent cleaning of drainage systems to help prevent flooding, particularly in Metro Manila.
On Thursday, several local government units suspended classes due to inclement weather.
