PALACE SUSPENDS CLASSES, WORK IN NCR, NEARBY PROVINCES DUE TO ‘FLORITA’
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. suspended work and classes in all levels from August 23 to 24 due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Florita, the Office of the Secretary said on Tuesday.
The suspension covered Metro Manila and nearby provinces including Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan.
“The heavy rains pose possible risks to the general public based on the recommendations of the Office of Civil Defense,” the OPS said in a statement.
“The same course of action for private schools and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” it added.
Several local government units in Northern Luzon also suspended classes and work in government offices because of the heavy rains brought by ‘Florita’.
Those that canceled classes and suspended work on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, were:
• Ilocos Norte – all levels, public and private; work in all government offices
• Ilocos Sur – all levels, public and private; work in public offices
• Dagupan City, Pangasinan – all levels, public and private; work in all government institutions
• Aurora (Baler, San Luis, Maria Aurora, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Dilasag, and Casiguran) – preschool to senior high school, public and private
• Baguio City – preschool to high school, public and private
• Cagayan – all levels
• Camarines Sur – preschool to senior high school, public and private
• Dagupan City, Pangasinan – all levels, public and private; work in all government institutions
• Hagonoy, Bulacan – all levels, public and private
• Isabela
o Cabagan – all levels, public and private
o Tumauini – all levels, public and private
o Ilagan City – preschool to high school
• Malabon City – all levels, public and private (afternoon classes)
• La Trinidad, Benguet – preschool to senior high school, public and private
• La Union
o San Fernando – all levels, public and private
o San Juan – all levels, public and private
o Rosario – all levels, public and private
o Caba – all levels, public and private
o Bauang – all levels, public and private
o Bagulin – all levels, public and private
o Bacnotan – all levels, public and private

• Quezon – kindergarten, elementary, and secondary, public and private.
As of 11 a.m., five areas in Northern Luzon were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3.
The state weather bureau said ‘Florita’ made landfall in the vicinity of Maconacon, Isabela at 10:30 a.m.
It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday morning.
