OVER 3K STUDENTS TO SHOWCASE THEIR SKILLS IN NSPC 2024

A TOTAL of 3,145 students nationwide will showcase their journalistic skills at the National Schools Press Conference from July 8 to 12.

This year’s event is themed “Galing, Talino at Husay ng mga Batang Makabansa sa Diwa ng MATATAG na Adhika.”

Similar to previous years, the competition includes the following categories: News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Sports Writing, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Science and Technology Writing, Photojournalism, Editorial Cartooning, and Column Writing.

Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio expressed her hopes for the campus journalists, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

“I wish you good luck in the competition. We hope to see you as award-winning journalists in the future, not just for national awards but also for international ones,” she said.

Meanwhile, Senator Imee Marcos praised the Department of Education and the various individuals who support campus journalism.

“I congratulate the DepEd, the Secretary, the regional directors, and all the educators, innovators, and creative thinkers responsible for campus journalism. Each time the NSPC is held, the number of ‘truth warriors’ grows,” Marcos said.

This year’s conference is hosted by DepEd Region VII-Central Visayas.
