OVER 20 SHS GRADUATES GET JOBS IN DOLE TOURISM JOB FAIR
MORE than 20 Senior High School graduates landed a job in the first Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair of the Department of Labor and Employment in Cebu.
The SHS graduates were hired as dealers, stock clerks, cashiers, service crew and customer service representatives.
Jonalyn Terante from Moalboal, Cebu was among the 332 who were hired on the spot (HOTS).
“I’m so happy. Dream job ko ito,” Terante said.
“The positive turnout of the first-ever Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair conducted last week at SM City Cebu showed that the Tourism Industry in Region-VII is revived and is now welcoming back more applicants to complement the workforce it needs,” Lilia Estillore, DOLE-7 officer-in-charge, said.
Of the 1,830 jobseekers who registered, only 1,232 were qualified, the labor department said.
About a hundred were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for Skills Training and 18 were referred to the Department of Trade and Industry for business opportunities.
“We are grateful to all participating employers especially to those who hired applicants on the spot. We are hoping for more employers joining in our upcoming job fairs and for more applicants, who will be given the opportunity to land a decent job in addition to the new HOTS,” Estillore said.
