NATIONALIZATION OF CASOON HIGH SCHOOL PUSHED
DAVAO de Oro 1st District Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora filed a measure to nationalize the Casoon High School in Monkayo, Davao de Oro to ensure its annual budget.
Zamora said that Casoon High School is an annex of the Monkayo National High School that was established in 2005.
“Barangay Casoon is about eight kilometers from the town proper. Its distance from the nearest secondary school makes it hard for aspiring students to enroll and sustain their studies,” Zamora said.
She said House Bill 7891 will ensure that the school will be allotted a yearly budget by the government.
Zamora said that through a memorandum of agreement, the mother school, the local government units, benefactors and the parents/guardians pledged to provide financial support to the high school until it is nationalized.
A two-hectare lot was also donated to the school.
The lawmaker said the requirements on the number of students and teaching staff were adequately met.
“Everything is therefore in place for the smooth operation of the educational institution. The only wanting aspect is the certainty of regular budgetary appropriations from the State to meet the annual financial needs of the school, hence, the need for the passage of this proposal,” she said.
