MORE STUDENTS APPLY FOR PHILHEALTH INSURANCE
MORE students have applied for membership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation which is a requirement for face-to-face classes, an official said.
“May natanggap na po tayong applications. Mayroong dumidiretso sa ating mga offices, mayroon din sa mga schools doon sa ating regions at sila ang nakikipag-coordinate sa ating mga regional offices,” PhilHealth Spokesperson Dr. Shirley Domingo said during the Laging Handa news briefing.
Students aged 20 and below can be registered as a dependent of a parent or guardian who is a PhilHealth member.
Meanwhile, learners aged 21 and older or at least 18 years old but whose parents are not PhilHealth members can sign up as individual contributors.
Earlier this week, Senator Nancy Binay deplored the requirement imposed by the Commission on Higher Education and the Inter-Agency Task Force on students to secure medical insurance before attending physical classes.
Domingo said, however, that registering with PhilHealth will give students additional protection against Covid19.
