MMDA TO DEPLOY 581 TRAFFIC ENFORCERS FOR OPENING OF CLASSES
TO ENSURE the safety of students, at least 581 traffic enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will be deployed to assist 146 schools once classes resume this month.
MMDA Task Force Special Operations chief Bong Nebrija said they coordinated with local governments in preparation for the resumption of classes on August 22.
“We will be manning schools, 581 po ang itatalaga namin doon mismo sa eskuwelahan, 146 public schools in Metro Manila, nakatalaga po yan doon. Aside from that, we will be manning the intersections and pedestrian lanes,” Nebrija said.
The agency also conducted misting, fogging and clearing operations near schools.
MMDA officer-in-charge Baltazar Melgar earlier said that the agency will deploy 2,238 personnel along major roads and high-density schools in the National Capital Region.
On Thursday, the MMDA said that an expanded number coding scheme will be implemented in NCR starting August 15 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in light of the opening of classes.
Under the scheme, vehicles with license plates ending in 1 and 2 are banned on Monday, 3 and 4 on Tuesday, 5 and 6 on Wednesday, 7 and 8 on Thursday and 9 and 0 on Friday.
