THE House Committees on Higher and Technical Education and Appropriations have approved a measure establishing a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority District Office in the City of Davao.

The panels endorsed for plenary deliberation House Bill 9926 in substitution to House Bills 1756 and 6127.

Based on the measure, the TESDA-Davao City District Office will serve the City of Davao and its adjacent localities.

The bill mandates the TESDA to determine the organizational structure and staffing pattern for the TESDA-Davao City District Office and submit it to the Department of Budget and Management.

During the committee hearings, the lawmakers explained that as the population grows, more and more clients are seeking technical education and skills development programs and services.

They stressed that the establishment of a district office in Davao City is necessary to bolster the TESDA Abot Lahat Program.
