MANILA TO DISTRIBUTE STUDENT ALLOWANCES WORTH P19.85-M
MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday announced that the city government has officially signed the payroll for the allowances of nearly 11,000 students across three public schools, ensuring continued financial support for their educational needs.
According to Moreno, a total of 9,926 college students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila will each receive a monthly allowance of ₱1,000. For April and May 2025, they will receive a total of ₱2,000.
The total budget allocated for this quarter’s college student allowance stands at ₱19.852 million.
“This allowance is one way we continue to invest in the future of our youth,” Moreno said. “We want our students to focus on their studies without worrying too much about daily expenses.”
In addition, payrolls have also been approved for senior high school students from two city-run schools.
A total of 273 students from President Corazon Aquino Senior High School will receive their ₱500 monthly allowance for January 2025, while 803 students from Quirino Senior High School will receive theirs for March 2025.
This initiative is part of the Manila City Government’s broader efforts to improve access to education and support learners through financial assistance.
Moreno reaffirmed the city’s commitment to prioritizing education and student welfare in future programs.
