MANILA OPENS RENOVATED CITY LIBRARY
THE MANILA City Library reopened to the public on Monday after undergoing renovation.
The library, located along Taft Avenue, will offer hundreds of books and publications. Computer sets and printers are also available to the public.
St. Mary Publishing President Jerry Vicente Catabijan donated P1 million worth of books to the library.
The library also has a hotline number where people could inquire about the availability of books before visiting.
Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso who led the opening of the library said the government should make libraries accessible to the public.
“Kailangan nating patuloy na pagyamanin ang kaalaman ng kabataan and the government should be providing opportunities for them,” Domagoso said.
“Make it available to anybody. When I say anybody, I mean anybody who has interest or are interested to read. City library should be available to any age,” he added.
The mayor noted that while the library may not be used to the fullest because of quarantine restrictions, he remains optimistic that the public may find the facility useful in the future.
