LWUA PROBES WATER SUPPLY ISSUES IN SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE

/ 14 June 2025

THE LOCAL Water Utilities Administration is now actively reviewing reports from local water districts nationwide on water supply issues affecting both public and private schools, according to LWUA Administrator Jose Moises Salonga.

“All 532 water districts were sent a memorandum circular with an attached form to report all issues regarding water supply in their jurisdictions,” Salonga said.

“This covers both private and public schools. We are now processing all of those reports.”

He added that the initial evaluation of the reports is expected to be completed by June 16 or 17.

Water supply issues at two schools in Barangays Santisima Trinidad and Barihan in Malolos have already been resolved. “We sent our personnel to conduct repairs, and we’re happy to report that those two schools now have running water. They are fully operational,” Salonga said. PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. had earlier committed to the necessary repairs in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, at Tibagan Elementary School in San Miguel, the San Miguel Water District and Pamana Water Corporation are working with school officials to connect the school to the main water distribution line.

Salonga also said LWUA is finalizing an investigation into complaints regarding PrimeWater’s services. The findings will be submitted directly to President Marcos.

Beyond Bulacan, LWUA is coordinating with the Dumaguete City Water District to assist in Siquijor province, where similar issues persist. A generator set will be deployed to support water relief operations in the area.
