LOCKDOWN POSSIBLE REASON FOR VIOLENCE IN SCHOOLS — EXPERT
THE months-long lockdown because of the pandemic could be one of the causes of violence in school, an expert said.
“Probably during the time na nasa loob sila ng pamamahay they were able to experience or even physical abuse na nakikita sa magulang, sa mga kapitbahay, within the community na dating hindi pinapansin ng isang bata,” Dr. Camille Garcia, a psychologist, said.
“Makikita mo ‘yung aggression magbi-build up and ‘yung possibility na makasakit sila ng matindi, pupuwedeng mangyari,” she added.
Garcia advised the parents and guardians of children to ensure that their wards are taught good moral character.
The Philippine National Police said that there was no uptrend in school violence.
“These are cases na mangilan-ngilan lamang but they’re happening within the NCR area kaya po na-cacapture ng media,” Col. Mary Grace Mandayag of the PNP’s Public Information Officer of Women and Children Protection Center said.
She advised the students to go to school authorities if they are experiencing bullying.
