LIMITED F2F CLASSES FOR ALL PROGRAMS NOT A CAUSE OF CONCERN – PALACE

/ 19 October 2021

THE PROPOSAL of the Commission on Higher Education to conduct limited face-to-face classes for all degree programs in areas with low Covid19 risk and high vaccination rate is “not a cause of concern,” Malacañang said on Tuesday.

“Hindi naman tayo mag-face-to-face doon sa mga lugar na maraming kaso ng Covid,” Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said in a press briefing.

“Pangalawa tumataas din naman po ang vaccination rate natin – hindi lang sa Metro Manila kundi sa buong Pilipinas,” he added.

Roque stressed that Filipinos must learn to live with Covid19.

CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III earlier said that the commission is eyeing to conduct physical classes in the first quarter of 2022.

Currently, in-person classes are only allowed in select degree programs like health and science, technology and engineering, tourism and hospitality management and maritime.

To reopen more schools, De Vera III said the agency is aiming to increase the vaccination rate of the education sector, particularly the students.

At least 181 higher education institutions nationwide have been authorized by CHED and the Department of Health to conduct limited F2F classes as of October.
