SENATORS Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr and Imee Marcos filed separate resolutions congratulating and commending the Philippine Team for their impressive performance in the 2023 World International Mathematical Olympiad in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The two senators filed Senate Resolutions 912 and 907 commending the 97-strong team of PH who joined Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, and Vietnam in the finals round of the WIMO.

WIMO is a platform that brings together global mathematical societies of the best and brightest math wizards.

The resolutions said WIMO is a by-invitation competition open only to students who have achieved two Gold awards in the Guangdong-Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area Mathematical Olympiad, Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad Final or Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad Final.

The Philippine team bagged 14 Gold, 18 Silver, 30 Bronze, and 35 Merits Awards at the 2023 WIMO Finals held on January 6-7, 2024 at the University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The senators said the recent feat of the Philippine team in the International arena highlights their continuing pursuit of academic excellence and they have etched a remarkable finish for the nation’s future leadership.
