LAWMAKER WANTS TWO MORE CAMPUSES FOR ILOCOS SUR POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE
ILOCOS Sur Rep. Deogracias Victor Savellano batted for the establishment of two additional campuses of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College.
He filed House Bill 9823 that seeks to give rise to the San Juan and Cabugao campuses.
Under the measure, the campuses will provide scholarship and other programs to assist needy but deserving students.
He said that having more campuses will strengthen the institutional capacity of the university to provide quality and accessible tertiary education, as well as research centers that will enrich access to relevant information.
“The additional campuses will bolster ISPSC’s mandate and provide greater accessibility to future enrollees within Ilocs Sur and neighboring provinces,” Savellano said in his explanatory note.
“This measure is an investment for the future. Our gesture of giving jope to the youth provides utmost importance to education, bringing it closer to them,” he added.
The bill provides P200 million for the initial operation of the two campuses and the research centers.
