LAWMAKER WANTS TESDA CENTER IN OCCIDENTAL MINDORO

/ 18 February 2023

OCCIDENTAL Mindoro Rep. Leody Tarriela sought the creation of a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Training and Assessment Center in the municipality of Magsaysay.

He filed House Bill 6996 or the proposed TESDA Magsaysay Training Center Act to enable local residents from low-income families or who are college dropouts or are disabled to have access to vocational training programs.

This would help them find gainful employment or become entrepreneurs.

The lawmaker said skilled citizens will help develop the agricultural and industrial potential of their municipality.

Under the measure, the TMTC shall primarily provide technical-vocational education training programs to students and local residents from low-income families and out-of-school youth, including persons with disabilities and indigenous people.

The TMTC shall offer short-term certificate courses and modular trainings in preferred technical-vocational skills and trades specialization.
