LAWMAKER WANTS TEACHERS TO UNDERGO FINANCIAL PLANNING SEMINARS
CAMARINES Sur 3rd District Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr. wants elementary and high school teachers to undergo regular financial planning seminars.
He filed House Bill 6528 or the proposed Financial Planning Education for Teachers Act of 2022 that aims to regularly educate teachers and help them optimize their savings and secure a solid financial position.
“Teachers are given the important responsibility not only of educating the nation’s youth but also with aiding in their growth and development into law abiding and valuable members of our society,” Bordado said in his explanatory note.
“But despite the heavy responsibility entrusted to our teachers, their own well-being, particularly upon their retirement, is often unsecure. Many teachers are unaware of the options and ways they could improve their own financial security,” he added.
The measure mandates the Department of Education and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to collaborate and come up with a regular schedule of seminars for public elementary and high school teachers.
