CIBAC Party-list Rep. Eduardo “Bro Eddie” Villanueva filed a measure mandating the inclusion of anti-corruption and governance education in Basic Education Curriculum.

House Bill 8590 or the proposed Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Information and Education Act aims to emphasize the important role of students in the fight against graft and corruption.

By educating the youth on the evils of corruption, the lawmaker said corruption in the government will be minimized, if not eliminated.

“Corruption has been an affliction of the Philippine society for many years bringing adverse and deplorable effects to the people,” Villanueva said in his explanatory note.

While many have tried to eradicate corruption by tightening laws on governance and intensifying punishment, no significant improvement has been made, he said.
