LAWMAKER URGES TIMELY RELEASE OF HONORARIA FOR TEACHERS
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to Filipino teachers for their vital role in ensuring the smooth and orderly conduct of the 2025 midterm elections.
Gatchalian emphasized that beyond shaping the next generation of Filipinos, teachers also serve as frontliners in safeguarding democracy.
“I join the Filipino people in thanking our teachers for the services they rendered to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the 2025 midterm elections,” he said.
“More than educators, our teachers are guardians of our democratic process,” the senator added.
Gatchalian also called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure the prompt release of honoraria for teachers who served as poll workers, stressing that timely compensation is not only fair but also essential in recognizing their sacrifice and dedication.
“It is crucial for the Commission on Elections to ensure that teachers who served as poll workers receive their honoraria on time,” he said.
The senator concluded by asserting that teachers deserve the highest recognition from the Filipino people for their continued service both inside and outside the classroom.
