LAWMAKER SEEKS NURSERY AND CHILDCARE FACILITIES NEAR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
SENATOR Mark Villar has filed a measure seeking to establish nursery and childcare facilities near public schools to support teachers and their families.
Under Senate Bill 1884, Villar aims to provide affordable and accessible childcare for public school teachers, ensuring their children’s developmental needs are met while easing the burdens on educators.
“Nursery and childcare facilities enhance the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs of children for their future learning,” Villar said in his explanatory note.
The senator noted that such facilities remain out of reach for many Filipino parents, particularly public school teachers, who must balance professional responsibilities with the well-being of their children. This dual responsibility often results in increased stress, less family time, and financial strain.
“It is imperative to improve the welfare of teachers, as they help actualize the potential of the youth for social mobility and a better future,” Villar added.
He emphasized that establishing childcare facilities would not only support teachers but also provide children with a strong foundation for learning.
“Every child should have a fruitful foundation for learning, and every teacher’s education and hard work should be celebrated,” Villar stressed.
