GABRIELA Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas sought a congressional inquiry into the killing of a 17-year-old boy who was mistaken for a murder suspect in Navotas.

Brosas filed House Resolution 1178 which calls on the concerned committee to conduct an investigation.

She said the police officers who shot and killed Jemboy Baltazar should be held accountable.

“It is appalling that young lives are being cut short due to the trigger-happy actions of law enforcement officers,” Brosas said.

Based on witnesses’ accounts, Baltazar was cleaning a boat with his friend when the police officers opened fire at them, prompting him to jump in the water.

Baltazar’s body was retrieved hours later.
