CAMARINES Sur 3rd District Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr. filed a measure that will prohibit schools from refusing to admit disabled students.

In filing House Bill 7224, Bordado stressed that students have the right to be admitted to a school of their choice.

“Discrimination of this kind is a violation of his inherent dignity and worth,” the solon stressed.

He cited the Constitutional provision that the State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.

HB 7224 covers vocationald and technical, tertiary, graduate and post graduate levels.

“Educational institutions are expected to make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of students with disabilities,” Bordado said in his explanatory note.
