LAWMAKER PUSHES FOR MEASURE URGING DEPED TO INTEGRATE TEACHING OF 10 COMMANDMENTS IN SCHOOL CURRICULUM

CIBAC Party-list Rep. Eduardo Villanueva is pushing for a measure urging the Department of Education to integrate in the curriculum of basic education, particularly in the core subjects of Good Manners and Right Conduct and/or Values Education, the teaching of the 10 commandments.

In his House Resolution 2195, Villanueva is also pushing to mandate the display of 10 commandments in all schools in the country.

“Aside from being a religious heritage, the 10 Commandments is also a historical artifact and document, which is generally recognized as a fundamental force and influence in shaping the development of secular laws and legal codes in the world, today,” Villanueva said in his resolution.

The solon stressed that country’s educational institutions have a fundamental and crucial role in strengthening the moral and ethical values of our youth.

Villanueva further said the teaching and inculcating of the 10 Commandments during the prime years of Filipino students’ lives is a potent strategy in implementing the constitutional mandate of promoting and protecting the spiritual and moral well-being of the Filipino youth.

“The teaching of 10 Commandments is also a plausible defense against the onslaught of foreign woke ideologies that lure our youth into wandering from and forsaking our cherished God-and-family-centered values and beliefs,” Villanueva added.
