CAMARINES Sur 3rd District Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr. filed a measure that seeks to establish a College Education Trust Fund for children of members of the Government Service Insurance System and Social Security System.

House Bill 6025 or the College Education Trust Fund Act will allow qualified SSS and GSIS members to insure the tertiary education of their children through the College Education Trust Fund.

The measure will also provide incentives to scholars and enrollees in agriculture, fishery, forestry and science and technology.

“Being able to secure a tertiary education affords our citizens more opportunities to become highly competitive and successful individuals here and around the world,” Bordado said in his explanatory note.

“Strengthening education for Filipinos would translate to easier upward mobility,” he added. “But for many Filipinos, college education remains an elusive dream.
