REP. Deogracias Victor Savellano has filed a measure that seeks to establish a provincial office of the Commission on Higher Education in Ilocos Sur.

In filing House Bill 8134, Savellano said that CHED is duty bound to protect, foster and promote the right of citizens to affordable quality education.

Under the measure, a CHED office will be established in Vigan City.

Savellano said that bringing the commission closer to students in the province will ensure a speedier and more efficient response to concerns on programs and projects.

The grant of student subsidies and financial assistance will also be easier if CHED has an office in Vigan, he added.

The amount necessary to establish a provincial office shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
