LAWMAKER MOVES TO RECTIFY INCONSISTENCIES ON TEACHING SUPPLIES ALLOWANCE
SENATOR Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa filed a measure that aims to rectify inconsistencies on the amount of the yearly allowance for public school teachers.
Senate Bill 1831 or the proposed Teaching Supplies Act mandates the provision of yearly allowance to teachers shall be set at P5,000 for School Year 2022-2023; P7,500 for School Year 2023-2024 and P10,000 for School Year 2024-2025 and thereafter.
“The lack of institutionalization is precisely the problem here, because if the provisions are inconsistent across each Fiscal Year, then the amounts allocated for our teachers shall also be inconsistent,” Dela Rosa said.
He added that with the institutionalization of teaching supplies allowance, the government will relieve the teachers of the burden of having to spend for their own supplies.
This would allow them to better focus on providing quality education to all learners, the senator said.
