SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian on Wednesday welcomed the Department of Education’s adoption of artificial intelligence to ensure that resources are efficiently delivered to classrooms, teachers, and learners nationwide.

“I commend DepEd’s strides in AI adoption, as this marks a step toward eliminating inefficiencies, boosting transparency, and improving resource allocation to ensure that classrooms, teachers, and students receive what they truly need,” said Gatchalian, chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.

He emphasized that integrating modern technology into education governance is key to strengthening the country’s basic education system.

“We can no longer delay the use of advanced technologies to reinforce our education sector. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, I remain committed to supporting innovations that align technology with accountability and deliver quality education that uplifts every Filipino child,” he added.

DepEd’s AI initiative seeks to improve planning, budgeting, and distribution of educational materials and resources, addressing long-standing issues such as classroom shortages and uneven allocation of funds.

Gatchalian assured that the Senate will continue to support measures that harness technology to promote efficiency, transparency, and quality learning for all.
