DAVAO City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte filed a measure that seeks to establish a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority District Office in the city.

Duterte said Davao City has 77 registered Private Technical Vocational Institutions, three Public TESDA Training Institutions, and 327 accredited Assessment Centers.

“The TESDA Provincial Office of Davao del Sur also covers Davao City, which is one with the largest scope in terms of reaching out the Technical Vocational Education and Training programs and services, among the Provincial Offices in Region XI,” he said in his explanatory note for House Bill 10573,

The lawmaker said the TVIs, TTIs and ACs had to be monitored by the Provincial Office.

“To address this, this bill seeks to establish a separate TESDA District Office in Davao City which shall provide better and more focused service both in the Province of Davao del Sur and in the City of Davao,” he added.

The bill mandates the chief of TESDA to include in the agency’s programs the operationalization of the TESDA District Office in the Davao City.
