CAMARINES Sur Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte filed a bill that seeks to establish a Philippine Science High School in the municipality of Libmanan.

In pushing for House Bill 10441, Villafuerte said establishing a PSHS in Libmanan will provide accessible quality education to students who excel in Math, Science and Technology.

Under the bill, PSHS-Libmanan Campus shall be integrated into the Philippine Science High School Act System under Republic Act 8496.

Once enacted into law, the amount needed to carry out the establishment of PSHS shall be incorporated in the General Appropriations Act.

“Science and technology are an integral part of modern life. From a nation building standpoint, science education and training are a high priority for development because of their links to industry and progress,” Villafuerte said in his explanatory note.

The lawmaker said Science skills and reasoning are important in an increasingly technologically advanced world.

“Other than a career in science, the training is also valuable in teaching the youth how to think, learn, solve problems and make informed decisions,” he added.
