LAWMAKER EYES ENTREPRENEURS ACADEMY

/ 4 October 2022

SENATOR Manuel ‘Lito’ Lapid filed a measure that seeks to establish the Philippine Entreprenuers’ Academy.

In his Senate Bill 1351, Lapid stressed that micro, small and medium enterprises are the backbone of the economy as they play a great role in providing employment to Filipinos.

“Malaking bagay po sa ating ekonomiya ang pagnenegosyo. Dapat po nating turuan at bigyan ng pagkakataon ang ating mga kababayan sa tamang pagnenegosyo kung saan magkakaroon sila ng pagkakataong kumita ng marangal at hindi na maghanap pa ng mapapasukang trabaho,” Lapid said in his explanatory note.

Under the measure, the academy shall formalize and integrate the informal entrepreneurship programs and short-term technical-vocational courses in Technical Education and Skills Develepment Authority, Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Science and Technology.

The school must also enhance the core competencies of individuals on entrepreneurship and promote the relevance of entrepreneurship to job generation and sustainable economic growth.

“The Academy is the catalyst for change -it shall facilitate the growth of MSMEs which will stimutale our economy,” Lapid said.
