TO MOTIVATE students to enter public service, Senator Mark Villar filed a measure that seeks to institutionalize the implementation of the Government Internship Program.

“A sound internship program would provide the youth as early as possible the needed training for entering civil service,” Villar said in filing Senate Bill 1525 or the proposed Government Internship Program of 2022.

The senator explained that as internship program bridges the gap between the academe and the workplace, it shall be beneficial both to the government and the students to have an enticing program to encourage them to enter civil service.

“The bill seeks to mandate all government agencies to provide compensation to internship program that would complement its current recruitment efforts in order to ensure that our prospective civil servants, the youth, are well motivated, properly trained and the deserving ones promptly recruited,” the senator said.

The bill allocates P100 million for the implementation of the program.
