SENATOR Pia Cayetano assured the Commission on Higher Education that she will push for higher allocation for State Universities and Colleges in the 2023 General Appropriations Act.

Cayetano requested a survey to find out the enrollment rate in SUCs nationwide.

CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III informed Cayetano that the facilities of a university in Pampanga could not accommodate the high number of students.

“If the demand is there then what do we do? With your proposal, we will be happy to support budgetary increases,” Cayetano said.

Senators approved for plenary deliberations the proposed 2023 budgets of CHED and SUCs, amounting to P30.7 billion and P93.3 billion, respectively.
