LAPU-LAPU CITY LIBRARY REOPENS, OFFERS FREE STUDY SPACE AND DIGITAL ACCESS FOR STUDENTS
STUDENTS in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu now have access to a modern, free study facility with the reopening of the city’s E-Library, which had been temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Located at the Hoops Dome in Barangay Gun-ob, the E-Library has officially resumed operations and is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight. It offers free internet access, printing services, and use of computers in a fully air-conditioned environment.
Mayor Ma. Cynthia ‘Cindi’ King-Chan said the initiative supports students who lack access to reliable internet, computers, or gadgets at home.
The facility is open to elementary, high school, and college students, as well as those preparing for board and licensure exams.
“Our goal is to make the E-Library a place where learning is not limited by time, space, or resources. This is one of our priorities,” King-Chan said.
Originally launched in 2019 by then-Mayor and now Lone District Representative Junard ‘Ahong’ Chan, the E-Library was temporarily converted into a COVID-19 data encoding center during the pandemic.
Rep. Chan reaffirmed his support for the project and announced that free coffee and chocolate drinks will also be available.
