LABOR RIGHTS EDUCATION IPINAPAPASOK SA K-12 PROGRAM

Ito ang binigyang-diin ni Magsasaka Partylist Rep. Argel Joseph Cabatbat sa pagsusulong ng panukala para sa pagsasama ng Comprehensive Labor Rights Education sa K-12 Program ng Basic Education.
Sa House Bill 8241 o ang proposed Comprehensive Labor Rights Education Act, iginiit ni Cabatbat na marami ang hindi nakakaalam sa labor laws and rights.
“Often, working-class Filipinos are thrown in to the labor market and accept below-minimum standards of work because of sheer ignorance,” pahayag ni Cabatbat.
Batay sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority, 59.5 percent ng 50,161 establisimiyento na ininspeksiyon noong 2015 ay lumalabag sa labor standard laws.
Naniniwala ang mambabatas na mareresolba ang problemang ito kung maagang maituturo sa mga estudyante ang labor rights education.
“The K-to-12 curriculum has been envisioned so that the additional two years of basic education can amply prepare our stuents to be already employable without going to college,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Batay sa panukala, magiging integral part ng curricula ng K to 12 Program ang labor rights education.
Ituturo ang subject na ito ng minimum na tatlong oras kada linggo na gagawing mother tounge-based multilingual education.
Magiging mandato ng Department of Education at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, katuwang ang Commission on the Filipino Language at Department of Labor and Employment, na bumuo ng mother tounge-based multilingual framework para sa pagtuturo ng comprehensive labor rights education.
