HIGIT sa anumang panahon, mas mahalaga ngayong pandemya na maipasok sa distance learning ang Good Manners and Right Conduct at Values Education.

Ito ang iginiit ni Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel ‘Migz’ Zubiri sa gitna ng kanyang pag-asang mabubuo ng Department of Education ang Implementing Rules and Regulations para sa Republic Act 11476 o ang GMRC and Values Education Act bago magbukas ang klase sa Agosto 24.

“I hope the Department of Education can work on the IRR in time for the opening of classes come August,” pahayag ni Zubiri.

“With many schools set on implementing distance learning, it’s going to be even more vital that we give our students formative guidance through GMRC and Values Education,” dagdag pa ng senador.

Ipinaliwanag niya na sa bagong sistema ng edukasyon, malayo ang mga estudyante sa kanilang mga kaklase, kaibigan at kasamahan sa paaralan na may epekto rin sa kanilang pag-uugali.

“Kids are going to be at home all day, learning in isolation from their peers. They’re not going to have the natural avenues for empathetic learning that springs from face-to-face interaction with their peers and with their teachers. Hopefully, a strengthened GMRC and Values Education program will make up for that,” paliwanag pa ng senador.

Alinsunod sa batas na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong Hunyo, isasama sa K-12 Curriculum ang komprehensibong GMRC at Values Education program kapalit ng Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao curriculum.

Dapat ay nakapaloob din ang GMRC sa arawang aktibidad ng kindergarten level at hiwalay namang subject mula Grades 1 hanggang 6 habang Values Education subject para sa Grades 7 hanggang 10.

Para naman sa Grades 11 at 12, ipapasok sa lahat ng subject ang Values Education.

“When we drafted this law, we thought it would be important to bring back GMRC because it would arm our kids with stronger moral codes that they would need in order to navigate this increasingly technological world. We didn’t anticipate that the world would basically grind to a halt, and all our interactions would move online,” ayon pa kay Zubiri.
