ISINUSULONG ni North Cotabato 2nd District Rep. Rudy Caoagdan ang panukala na i-convert ang isang higher educational institution sa bayan ng Makilala bilang polytechnic college.

Sa kanyang House Bill 10269, nais ni Caoagdan na i-convert ang Makilala Institute of Science and Technology bilang Makilala Polytechnic College.

Sinabi ng mambabatas na ang MIST ay isa sa public higher educational institutions sa Region 12 at kabilang sa 78 local universities and colleges na eligible para sa free tuition at iba pang bayarin sa ilalim ng Universal Acccess to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017.

“With the proposed conversion of MIST to a polytechnic college, it will have automatic appropriation from the national budget for free tuition fee, and priority in public grants or financial aid and faculty development program. These will redound to the benefit of the students, faculty and community,” pahayag ni Caoagdan sa kanyang explanatory note.

Naniniwala ang mambabatas na sa pamamagitan ng pondo mula sa national government ay maisasaayos ang mga pasilidad at serbisyo ng institusyon ara sa mga underprivileged o mahihirap na estudyante sa munisipalidad ng Makilala at buong lalawigan ng Cotabato.

“The Makilala Polytechnic College will have the opportunities for linkages with other public and private stakeholders and institutions towards enhanced professional development and growth,” dagdag pa ng kongresista.

Binigyang-diin pa ni Caoagdan na sa pamamagitan ng conversion, mabibigyan ng oportunidad ang mga miyembro ng faculty at staff ng institusyon para sa professional training upang makatugon sa mga pagbabago sa educational landscape.
