HUMAN RIGHTS, PEACE EDUCATION IPINATUTURO SA JUNIOR, SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS

ISINUSULONG nina Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman at Anak Mindanao Partylist Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan ang panukala na maisama sa junior at senior high school curriculum ang human rights at peace education subjects.

Sa kanilang House Bill 5949, binigyang-diin ng dalawang kongresista na mahalagang kasangkapan ng kalayaan ang maayos na peace and order, proteksiyon sa buhay, kalayaan at ari-arian at ang promosyon ng kapakanan ng sambayanan.

“Human rights and peace education are popular issues among organizations and government agencies that recognize the importance of the subjects and the need to include them in the school curriculum,” pahayag nina Hataman at Sangcopan sa kanilang explanatory note.

Iginiit ng mga mambabatas na ang kabataan sa kanilang early at critical stages ng pagkatao ay dapat may malawak na kaalaman sa human rights at responsibilities.

“Likewise, it is also important that at an early stage, the value of peace, tolerance and respect for differences of peoples and culturese are instilled among children and youth,” dagdag pa ng mga kongresista.

Saklaw ng panukala ang lahat ng public at private secondary schools sa illaim ng Department of Education.

Mandato ng DepEd na bumalangkas ng content standards para sa human rights at peace education subjects.
