HOUSE TO USE EDCOM II FINAL REPORT AS BASIS FOR EDUCATION REFORMS
THE HOUSE of Representatives will adopt the Final Report of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) as its guiding framework in crafting legislation to address the country’s long-standing education challenges.
House Speaker Ferdinand Martin “Bojie” Dy III made the commitment during the formal turnover of the EDCOM II Report, pledging the House’s full support for initiatives aimed at improving the quality of Philippine education.
Dy said the report should not be viewed as merely the conclusion of the commission’s work, but as a clear statement of government resolve to confront the real state of the education system with honesty, clarity, and accountability.
“The EDCOM II Report represents a principled stand by government—one that calls for a direct and unvarnished assessment of where our education system stands, and what must be done to fix it,” Dy said.
EDCOM II was created to conduct a systemwide review of the education sector amid persistent learning gaps and weak literacy outcomes among Filipino learners.
The final report lays out a long-term reform roadmap focused on strengthening foundational learning, improving teaching quality, and building clearer education-to-employment pathways to better prepare learners for the workforce.
