HOUSE PANEL CREATES TWG TO CONSOLIDATE MEASURES INSTITUTIONALIZING SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS
THE HOUSE Committee on Basic Education and Culture created a Technical Working Group that will consolidate and improve measures for institutionalizing support mechanisms for public school teachers and school personnel in student discipline and classroom management.
Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo, chairman of the committee, said that the TWG will discuss House Bill 364 authored by OFW Party-list Rep. Marissa Magsino; House Bill 549 by Reps. France Castro, Arlene Brosas and Raoul Danniel Manuel; and House Bill 6940 by Parañaque City Rep. Edwin Olivarez.
According to Magsino, House Bill 364 seeks to implement classroom management guidelines developed by the Department of Education.
The guidelines will be applicable to all teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public schools who come into direct contact with students while performing their duties.
“The prevalence of problematic and disruptive student behavior in schools has called attention to the need to train our educators to effectively manage their classes through appropriate discipline strategies to promote the student’s sense of responsibility in the classroom and to produce more responsible citizens,” she said.
Meanwhile, aside from the creation of the TWG, the panel also adopted House Resolution 711, congratulating Cebu National Science High School for being hailed as the Most Outstanding Secondary School in the 2022 Department of Education Region VII Pasidungog.
