HOUSE PANEL APPROVES APPROPRIATIONS FOR EDUCATION MEASURES
THE COMMITTEE on Appropriations of the House of Representatives has approved funding for several measures on education and assistance to young athletes.
During the virtual hearing presided by Committee Vice Chairman and Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Jose Dalipe, the panel approved the funding provisions of the substitute bill to House Bill 5808 or the proposed Young Athletes Assistance Act authored by Siquijor Rep. Jake Vincent Villa.
The panel proposed to charge the initial amount required in the implementation of the proposed Act to the Philippine Sports Commission.
On education measures, the panel approved the budget provisions of the Substitute Bill to House Bills 1100, 1464, 3056, 3885, 4572 and 6409, which aims to convert all Provincial Science and Technology Centers into Provincial Science and Technology Offices.
The committee also gave its nod to the appropriations provision of Substitute Bill to House Bill 3470, which seeks to expand the Enterprise-Based Education and Training under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
It likewise approved Substitute Bill to House 573, which will strengthen the mental health services of State Universities and Colleges.
