The measure pushes for the amendments of Sections 5 and 7 of the Republic Act 10533 or the Education Act of 2013.
The bill seeks to allow the Department of Education the flexibility to determine the pedagogical approaches to be implemented in the basic education curriculum.
The measure aims to restructure and reconsider the present education system with a focus aligned on enhancing learning among basic education learners.
Based also on the bill, the curriculum shall employ the approach deemed most effective by the Department of Education to ensure mastery of knowledge and skills after each level.
The curriculum and approach shall be subject to periodic review of not less than once every five years, unless compelling circumstances necessitate an earlier period, to determine their relevance and effectiveness in achieving the education goals.
