GROUP EYES PARENTS’ ACADEMY
TO HELP parents guide their children in distance learning, a party-list group is pushing for the establishment of an academy for them.
Educators in the Service of the Country Party-list Nominee and Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations Managing Director Joseph Noel Estrada said that the Parents’ Academy will train parents on how to be teachers at home.
“If our teachers have to prepare and be trained to have the skills to teach our children, maybe we should also look into parent training as they are now in place of teachers as their children learn from home,” Estrada said.
Meanwhile, family psychologist Dr. Michelle Alignay said that some parents still struggle on how to teach their children at home.
“As students are learning from home, it gave parents an opportunity to get to know their children better and how they deal with stress. The parent-child dynamics really changed—some parents seemed stressed, but others chose to embrace the challenge to help their children,” she said.
Limited face-to-face classes have begun in other schools. However, home learning continues as only a few schools have been allowed to open for limited face-to-face classes.
