GOV’T TO VACCINATE 13.5M KIDS

THE PHILIPPINES aims to vaccinate about 13.5 million children aged 5 to 11 against the Covid19, an official of the Department of Health said.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergerie said that the country has enough supply of vaccines for the inoculation of children below 12 years old.

“We have about 13.5 million targeted 5 to 11 years old individuals. Meron tayong enough supply (of vaccines),” Vergerie said in a news briefing.

“Lahat ng ating priority groups, the rest of the population, are already included in our estimates for the committed doses for 2021 sa ating bansa. We have enough supplies,” she added.

However, the government has yet to declare when it will start the inoculation of children.

Dr. Ted Herbosa, medical adviser of the National Task Force Against Covid19, earlier said that the Philippine Food and Drug Administration expects Pfizer-BioNTech to apply for an emergency use authorization of its vaccine on children aged 5 to 11.

The US FDA recently approved Pfizer Covid19 jabs for those aged 5 to 11.
