/ 6 September 2024

THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment has announced that the Cabinet Cluster on Education is working to improve the employability of Filipino youth, highlighting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to implementing various programs aimed at boosting job readiness.

Among the government’s initiatives are the Special Program for the Employment of Students, the Government Internship Program, and JobStart.

“We are looking at how to equip our students with the appropriate skills to prepare them for their future careers,” Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma stated.

Laguesma also mentioned that President Marcos has instructed DOLE, the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to enhance the Senior High School curriculum.

“In line with the President’s directive, DOLE, DepEd, CHED, and TESDA have been tasked with strengthening the Senior High School curriculum by incorporating technical-vocational education and training. A joint memorandum circular (JMC) has already been presented to the President in accordance with his directive,” Laguesma added.
