GOV’T ALLOTS P140-B FOR SUCs OPERATIONS
INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr. confirmed that the national government has allotted P140 billion budget to fund the operation of state colleges and universities in the whole country.
The official made the statement as he graced the commencement exercises at the Eastern Samar State University.
In his speech, Abalos emphasized the role each graduate plays in shaping the future of the community and the nation.
“You are the torchbearers of knowledge of our nation’s future. Kayo ang magtuturo sa susunod na henerasyon,” Abalos said.
The official also underscored the immense responsibility that comes with being an educator, referring to them as the bearers of knowledge for the future.
He also shared a story about his father, Benjamin Abalos, Sr., who overcame poverty to achieve success, illustrating the transformative power of education.
“Edukasyon lamang ang paraan para makaahon sa kahirapan,” he added as he emphasized that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Abalos also encouraged the graduates to strive for their dreams and never give up.
“Ang mundo ay bilog, matuto kang mangarap para makuha mo ang gusto mo,” he further said.
Abalos further underscored the importance of collective action, particularly for those entering the workforce, to help drive the country forward by embracing their roles in fostering national development and unity.
